Many people say "To hell with atonal music!," and we end up with more predictable, bland and uninteresting music that way. I'm not totally against convention, mind you, but it's just not the be-all-end-all with me. I'm willing to use it or lose, depending on what works for me. If the people who want convention to rule have their way, everything will sound like American Idol, or worse.
